Worm Gear Application
Worm Screws and Gears are used to transfer force and motion between two perpendicular shafts 90° from each other; in other words, this turns a radial motion on the x axis to a radial motion on the y axis.
Worm screw features
– Irreversible mechanisms can be achieved; which is to say they cannot be driven in one direction.
– They enable the output shaft to be rotated.
– Large reductions (20:1, and even up to 300:1) or greater.can be achieved in small spaces,
